Nature Gives Us Peace

When I was little, I was always curious about “the adult’s life”. I could never dislike the so-called birthday even though there weren’t always a celebration each year. When there was, I couldn’t wait. I even practiced blowing the candle the day before. I had always wanted to be an adult and do things I thought was superb, like having your own money and able to buy things, driving a car and a bunch of other stuff. I couldn’t wait to see what the world has and what I can do.

Now, of course I’ve grown into an adult. What kind? A good one, I hope. I’ve seen enough of the “adult’s life”, now I want to go back to my childhood! I’ve overcome my curiosity. Not that I’m not eager to see my future anymore, it’s just that the world seems to be very mean and scary, in a way. Disasters, human carelessness, corrupted society (mentally and morally), it’s no longer safe (maybe it has never been). How would I survive? How would my children survive?

I always dream a dream that millions of other people dream of, a peaceful world. Peace oh peace… The only place I can find you is in nature. Birds singing in a cool Sunday morning in my backyard at a house that dream of green, squirrels running across the freshly mowed lawn of a house in Northern New York, the lawn that’s as soft as a green Turkish rug, the autumn breeze and the colorful leaves. Can I reach out and hold you in my arms, oh peace, so I can save you for my children?
