Hi everyone,

This website you has been launched 3 months ago and we are really proud to see it live and grow: we are having new members everyday! We’re getting close to 400 now!

When the Summit Project started, we decided to build our online platform with a open source content managing system. As we wanted the website to be an exchange platform, we also wanted to incorporate a blog system.

We chose to work with WordPress which is an open source CMS. It has many features including a plugin architecture and a templating system. Used by over 300 of the 10,000 biggest websites, WordPress is the most popular blog software in use today.

To buil our online community, we installed BuddyPress which is built to bring people together with similar interests to connect and communicate. Our theme is called BuddyPress Daily Child. From there, we have done quite a lot of customization work and in-house design to make it user friendly and look original !

If you have any questions related to our website, or any question on how to create your own open source website, we would be very happy to help you! Also, if you have any good advice to give on how to make the best out of all these fascinating open source tools, please share with everyone!
