How much do people trust scientists?

Although I have recently heard woes that the trust toward scientists declines rapidly, especially following the “Climategate” scandal, this article proves something profoundly contradictory:

However, please note that the respondents represent a small, highly educated, scientifically literate segment of the total population. This is what the final paragraph states. Out of the 21,000 responses, 19 percent indicated that they hold doctorates in various fields.
I would really like to know what do ordinary people think. Here, it seems that respondents shared their view on how much they trust… themselves.

Due the fact that Education has come up into another business market, having decreased its knowledge and research level, and that Common Sense, Knowledge and Criteria are not honestly encouraged by the majority of professors and institutions, I must say that I take into account the view of PhD’s as far as I take that from ordinary people.
