"‘There have been mass volcanic explosions, meteor impacts, and, Laughlin says, “all manner of other abuses greater than anything people could inflict, and still here. It’s a survivor.” ‘ (from “The earth doesn’t care”, Newsweek, Sept 20, 2010)" · View

But what’s wrong about making profits out of being “green”, even if this attitude is insincere and opportunistic? Isn’t it the outcome that matters? Moreover, the “green” is only sustainable if it generates real financial returns.

Following the Forum on Green Entrepreneurship that was held in Brussels last December, I was asked to elaborate a dedicated harvest on what it takes to support sustainable entrepreneurship from the angle of economics. I took up this exercise pretty willingly, keeping in mind, that standing out of the “wheel reinvention” approach will be more than [...]

Dear All, I have recently come up against an announcement about another event dedicated to sustainable development. It is the European Youth Meeting, to be held in Tallinn, Estonia, between 19th and 24th July. Please note that Tallinn is proudly the European Capital of Culture this year, which is the guarantee of a diversely fruitful [...]

This is right. But with regard to expiry dates, we should also underline that there are companies which deliberately postpone the kick-off of the new, cutting-edge product, in order to first sell the outstanding stock of the old product (which will become obsolete as the new one will be marketed). Although this sales optimization is [...]

It was nicely delivered, but what is the connection with GreEn Workshop? I don’t feel that this movie has significantly improved my perception, but still it was worth watching.

Sorry if I mixed the questions up. There are many interdependencies between them. 1) Many ideas could be turned into a new business, which doesn’t mean all of them deserve it. The process should look pretty much like it looks now, but with more accessible (key word) fundraising, advisory etc. Cuts on red tape are [...]

Exactly, I want to ACT, not GRUMBLE. That’s why I get irritated when someone clearly wants to fool me by shouting that I can change the next millenium in 4 years. As you noticed, they could just as well say I can change the world in 4 days or months or whatever. Although you wrote [...]

I feel as if I’d just listened to a sect’s leader… It was at the same time too pessimistic (about people’s nature) and too idealistic (about what can be done about it). Well, I do agree that people are selfish and selfishness is a “driving force” of today’s society. However, I absolutely don’t consider it [...]

The advice expressed by Ms Palin-Brinkworth is very generic. I can’t directly contradict what was written (well, NLP), however the practical application of these recommendations remains problematic. They are guidelines, perhaps even useful, to manage chaos, which – no doubt – is prevailing. Although I prefer to manage IN chaos. Slight difference, but crucial to [...]

Nice piece of movie. In terms of technical aspects, of course. I’m sorry to say this, but it deserves nothing more than that. The thesis at the beginning (“The next four years will determine the quality of life on this planet for the next 1,000 years”) proves that the organizers have mastered bullshitting skills, but [...]

Once upon a time I was preparing an extended report on sustainable construction market in Poland. As far as I can remember, I came to the conclusion that… virtually, there is no such market in my country. We have only several zero-energy buildings, mainly for exposition, not for living. No company is able to construct [...]

First days of November and ca. 15 degrees of Celsius in Poland… What an argument for global warming believers;)

Nice. It’s a food for thought. There is no doubt that the word “green” is notoriously misused.

Ad. 1) Yeah, you’re right, I was not aware that I just mindlessly replicated the word ‘hate’ used in the article you had shared. No offence:) Ad. 2) I don’t know all possible definitions of environmentalism, but to my understanding, this ideology IS extreme. This is according to the definition with which I’m familiar (once [...]

  • Marcin commented on the blog post Being an environmentalist…BAD??   2 years, 7 months ago · View

I’m just talking for myself, so I don’t know whether what I think is to any extent representative, but environmentalism, as a doctrine, scares me. Although I’m very much in favor of protecting our environment and keep things “green”, I hate extremists. Especially, if these are of religious background. Of course, you can argue about [...]
